    How to Get EcoVadis Platinum

EcoVadis Platinum goes to the top 1% of companies rated in the previous 12 months. As with every medal, there is no fixed score, and every theme must score at least 30. What separates Platinum from Gold is maturity: externally verified data, public targets with tracked progress, and sustainability built into supplier management at scale.

    What Platinum requires

Platinum is the top 1% of a global ranking. Very few companies reach it, and those that do usually have a dedicated sustainability function and years of reported data. The bar rises each year as more companies improve.

    What separates Platinum from Gold

Gold companies have documented, measured programmes. Platinum companies have proven ones.

    Is Platinum worth chasing?

For most suppliers, Gold already meets what buyers ask for. Platinum makes sense when sustainability is part of how you sell, when a key customer rewards it, or when you are already close. Check your customers' requirements before committing the extra effort.

    Building towards Platinum

    1. Hold Gold with margin, so a strong market year does not knock you down. 2. Get key data assured by a third party. 3. Set science-based targets and report progress against them. 4. Align your reporting to a recognised framework. 5. Extend supplier assessment from key suppliers to the wider base. 6. Keep every document current, dated and specific.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What score do you need for EcoVadis Platinum?

There is no published cut-off. Platinum goes to the top 1% of companies rated in the previous 12 months, so the required score moves with the market.

How many companies get EcoVadis Platinum?

About 1% of rated companies, by design.

How long does it take to reach Platinum?

Usually several assessment cycles, because Platinum relies on multi-year data and verified results.

Do I need third-party assurance for Platinum?

It is not a stated rule, but externally assured data is strong evidence and common among top-rated companies.

Can I lose Platinum without my score dropping?

Yes. Medals are percentile-based, so if other companies improve faster your ranking can fall.

Is Platinum better than Gold for winning tenders?

Only if the buyer rewards it. Many procurement policies set Silver or Gold as the bar, so Platinum is rarely a requirement.

Can a small company reach Platinum?

It is possible, since expectations scale with size, but it needs mature, well-evidenced systems in every theme.

How can Ella help with Platinum?
